LegalEase is a digital solution tailored for law firms, designed to simplify case management and optimize team collaboration. The platform's primary objective was to centralize tasks, communication, and documentation, providing legal professionals with a streamlined, user-friendly interface for seamless operations.
Law firms face challenges in managing their growing volume of cases and coordinating communication within teams. With information scattered across various tools and paper-based systems, it was increasingly difficult to maintain efficient workflows, leading to missed deadlines, miscommunication, and reduced client satisfaction.
My Role - UI Design, UX Design
LegalEase was conceived to assist law firms in streamlining their case management, improving team collaboration, and ensuring efficient client-lawyer interactions. The existing digital platforms in the legal sector had several shortcomings. These limitations often led to operational inefficiencies, scattered data, and frequent miscommunication. With LegalEase, our vision was to present an all-in-one solution that addressed these challenges and improved the overall experience for both lawyers and their clients. Our objective was to understand the distinct needs of law firms in managing cases, the communication hurdles between team members, and the friction points experienced by clients when interacting with their legal representatives through digital platforms.
There is no application that directly addresses legal case management, combining a way to view active and pending cases, details on involved parties, and schedule important dates. Our primary competitors in the legal application space are LegalZoom, Rocket Lawyer, and Clio.

User Interviews were key to dialing in the user perspective of legal professionals. I conducted interviews with 3 newer lawyers(>5 years experience) and interviews with 4 veteran lawyers(<5 years experience). I asked each what common administrative tasks arise often in their work.
Questions (in order) -

Using results of the interviews and research, pain points to resolve were documented.
Many lawyers expressed frustration over the disjointed and non-intuitive interfaces of existing legal platforms. These interfaces often resulted in them spending unnecessary time navigating the platform and accessing essential case details.
LegalEase was designed with a clear and logical flow, ensuring that all crucial information and actions are easily accessible. I employed a consistent color scheme, iconography, and typography to enhance the overall user experience, allowing users to focus on their tasks rather than navigating the interface.
Clients frequently felt left in the dark about the progress of their cases. They desired a mechanism to view real-time updates without needing to constantly reach out to their lawyers.
A dedicated client dashboard was integrated into LegalEase. This dashboard offers clients an at-a-glance view of their case status, important dates, and recent updates. Clear progress bars and visual indicators provide a sense of the case's progression, enhancing client trust and satisfaction.

I want to use LegalEase to easily manage, draft, edit, and collaborate on legal documents,
So that I can minimize the time spent on administrative tasks and ensure a streamlined workflow within my team, while also offering my clients a more transparent and interactive platform for their case documentation.
The research and user mapping came together to guide the creation of several high and low fidelity representations of the base product design.
Colors, fonts, and patterns were selected based on how they reflected the mission. A calm, simple pallette of blues presented professionalism and reliability.
Elements needed to be well spread and simple to find, accounting for varying levels of technical expertiese.

A group of volunteer and associated legal professionals were scouted and given access to the application for testing. 15 legal professionals utilized the application for a four week period. I coordinated predetermined feedback points at the end of each week.
